  • BERMUDA MARATHON, Hamilton, Bermuda, Jan. 18:
    Stephanie Hodge 2:59:51 6:51 / mile   (2nd female overall, $2000 prize)
    El Afoui Boubker of Morocco won for the third time with a final time of 2:22:38.  Boubker pulled away from second-place finisher Wilson Komen of Kenya at mile 17 and was never challenged again.  Komen finished in 2:25:57.  Third place went to an island favorite, local man Brett Forgesson, who never challenged the lead pair with a time of 2:49:14.  The women's race was topped by a trio of late entrants.  Anna Pichrtova of the Czech Republic won the race with a commanding lead and a final time of 2:49:35.  Stephanie Hodge of Canada finished in second in 2:59:51 and Bermuda's own Lynn Patchett was third in 3:07:44.
