2010 Harrier Election Results

2010 HARRIER RACES
In 2010, the Harriers will be concentrating on the NYRR Club Points Races and we encourage as much Harrier participation as possible. Before each race there will be an organized team warm-up, and after each race there will be a get-together at a convenient location. We are looking forward to supporting you all year long and especially running these great races. GO HARRIERS 2010!!

The New York Harriers have been Running Strong in New York City since 1988. From our humble beginnings, we have established a proud tradition of supporting our members' running goals at all levels, age groups, and disciplines for over 20 years. Harriers have a culture that embraces the Competitive Spirit while at the same time promoting team camaraderie and friendship. The core team activities include our 3 weekly workouts, our team races, and our monthly and post-race social events. Additionally, we maintain an online message board and distribute a weekly member e-mail to keep all team members tied together. We encourage anyone interested in finding more about the Harriers to come to one of our workouts or social events and meet some of the friendly team members. If you would like to join, membership dues are $25 per year entitling you to:

  HARRIER WEEKLY WORKOUTS
All Harriers and those wanting to learn more about the Harriers are invited to our workouts. The team offers 3 structured workouts a week: a Wednesday Night Speed Workout, a Friday Night Tempo Workout, and a Sunday Long Run. The workout program is for all runners at any level and is designed to provide a balanced program that any runner can jump into independent of their running goals. The most attended workout of the week is our Wednesday Night Speed Workout and is the cornerstone of our training program. The workout is run by Coach Kevin Horty and is customized each week based on the time of year, the Harrier Race Schedule, weather, and location. The Friday Night Tempo Workout and the Sunday Long Run are also well-attended and round out our running program. Additional details for each workout are provided below.   SOCIAL LIFE
All Harriers and those interested in finding out more about the Harriers are more than welcome to our come to our social gatherings including our First Thursdays, Post-Race Parties, and other events.

First Thursdays: The Harriers have a tradition of meeting for drinks at 9:00pm (sometimes earlier) on the First Thursday of every month. A new guest host is selected from within the club each month, who has a chance to show off his or her favorite spot. Please join in the fun. For details send an e-mail to nyharriers@gmail.com.

Post-Race Party: After each Club Points Team Race in Central Park (see above 2009 Harrier Races), the Harriers meet up at the Emerald Inn (or another designated location near Central Park) for brunch and a good exchange of Race War Stories.
